Overview

NEXA Lending — formerly branded NEXA Mortgage — is a United States residential mortgage brokerage headquartered in Chandler, Arizona. Founded in 2017 by Mike Kortas and Mat Grella, the company operates as a wholesale broker, giving its network of independent loan officers access to a broad panel of wholesale lenders and loan programs rather than lending balance-sheet capital of its own.

NEXA is best known in the industry for its scale: it has grown into one of the largest mortgage-brokerage loan officer networks in the country, and for its LO-first economics through the widely publicized NEXA100 compensation model.

Business model

As a mortgage broker, NEXA does not underwrite or fund loans directly. Instead, its loan officers originate loans on behalf of borrowers and submit them to wholesale lender partners. This gives borrowers access to a wider set of rates and programs than a single retail lender can offer, and lets loan officers price competitively across multiple investors.

Products

NEXA loan officers originate a full spectrum of residential mortgage products, including conventional (Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac), FHA, VA, USDA, jumbo, non-QM, DSCR investor loans, bank-statement loans, ITIN, construction, renovation, and reverse mortgages. See Loan Programs for a detailed breakdown.

Licensing

NEXA is licensed to originate mortgages in the large majority of U.S. states. A full list appears on the Licensing & States page. Individual loan officers hold their own NMLS licenses; consumers can verify any NEXA loan officer at nmlsconsumeraccess.org.

Culture and network

NEXA has positioned itself as a “broker for brokers,” building a large network of experienced loan officers through its LO-first economics and the NEXA100 compensation model. Loan officers interested in joining NEXA can start onboarding through Renato Rodic’s direct onboarding link. See For Loan Officers.
